The Best Easy-to-Assemble Greenhouses and What They Cost
I recently moved to a much cooler climate than I have been in most of my adult life. I found myself antsy to do some spring gardening. However, “spring” didn’t arrive in full splendor until what I used to call “summer.” It was time to consider a greenhouse to get that early start on the growing season and to protect tender new plants from pests.
I supposed I could build one from the ground up but the time to get all the materials together and the time to actually build the thing seemed a bit - well – overwhelming. Then I discovered, with a little research from the comfort of my own couch, there is a world of choices out there for easy-to-assemble greenhouses.
The time spent perusing the available greenhouses yielded some interesting results I will pass along to you here. First, there are so many that have the “no tools required” feature listed that I personally would not consider any other type. I like having my green thumb intact for actual gardening. The next features such as structure durability, snow-load capacity (if needed), size, and looks depend on your purposes, the size you need, and how permanent you want the structure to be. This latter feature is the pivotal feature and the costs of these greenhouses varies from small, 2′ x 3′ all plastic units from around 58.00 to large, 8′ x 20′ units made from aluminum or a comparable metal frame and plexiglass from 4,000.00 to 6,000.00. With this wide variety in my mind’s eye I envisioned my neat green-housed gardens with at least two large glass and metal greenhouses – the kind with automatic vents and real doors. Sigh – not in my particular budget. I settled for a 6′ square “pop-up greenhouse for around 261.00.
